What is ROM and RAM…?
I’ll give you as much information as I can (off the top of my head). As mentioned ROM stands for Read Only Memory and RAM stands for Random Access Memory. They are both types of memory that a computer uses to store, programs, instructions, and so forth. There are several differences between the two, however. ROM is non-volatile, that is to say, the contents are retained even when the power is turned off. It is often used with firmware (software instructions stored on ROM). Firmware exists for all kinds of devices, including printers, hard drives, dvd-rom drives, and so forth. It basically software instructions that the device uses to operate. ROM is also used for the BIOS (basic input output system) of your computer. The BIOS’s main function is to translate instructions between the CPU and the peripheral devices of your computer.
