What is Robusta coffee?
Robusta coffees are generally considered far inferior to Arabica coffee dues to their poor taste. It accounts for 40% of the world’s production. The robusta coffee plant grows at a lower elevation [even down to sea level], is a much hardier plant but produces a flat, rusty taste. Robustas are most often used by the larger, commercial roasting plants. . Robusta coffees normally have twice the caffeine content of Arabica coffees. Some espresso roasts use robusta beans due to the higher fat content which can produce more crema.
