What is road fund licence?
Yet another tax on motorists – also called ‘Road Tax’. Road fund licence costs vary according to CO2 emissions of the vehicle but that is double taxation because it is already taxed through petrol taxes since petrol consumption is related to CO2 emissions and petrol costs are already mostly tax. The proceeds go into the same government bucket along with all other tax income and only a tiny proportion is used for roads which benefits everyone – pedestrians, cyclists, bus passengers, motor cyclists, electric disability scooters.
