What is resurfacing?

Resurfacing is something I enjoy doing the most with plaster. Many older homes have cracked and unstable ceilings or walls. Or maybe someone has really thick ugly plaster that they want to get rid of. Or maybe someone takes down paneling and they find a ‘surprise’ behind it – ripped plaster board or drywall, or maybe thick paste or adhesive that needs to be covered. All of these things can be solved with resurfacing. A bonding agent is usually applied over the surface and then a base coat is applied over the entire surface. Depending on the surface and the reasons for going over it, fiberglass mesh may be embedded into the plaster to make sure cracks don’t come back, or it may simply have a base coat applied over it.
