What is restricted in communist countries?
It does depend on the country. Travel outside the country is commonly restricted. However, many of the limitations placed on the citizens of communist countries are not actually part of communism in a pure sense. It is theoretically possible to have a communist country with no more real restrictions than you’d get in a non-communist one. The restrictions are generally put in place by the governments to prevent the by-products of communism from destabilising the country – for example in the old USSR, the government feared that democratic election would end communism, so it got rid of the rights of the people to choose their leaders. That is not a necessity in a communist society, but many do remove democracy to hold on to their power base. The problem is it’s often difficult to implement communism and keep the populace happy with it.
