What is Respite Care?
A. Respite care involves having a trained individual assume the caregiver role for short periods-whether a few hours or a few weeks-so that the caregiver has a chance to get a haircut, take a vacation, go to a doctor’s appointment, or take care of other personal matters. It can also refer to a brief recovery time following surgery during which a person needs supervised care. Meth-Wick has five beds dedicated to respite care.
