What is Resomation?

0

Resomation is a new term for a process known as alkali hydrolysis. This process takes a (un-clothed/casketed or specially-clothed/casketed) set of human remains, and places it into a pressurized vessel. Chemicals and hot water are added and the mixture is heated to 450 F where it is held for a calculated number of hours to allow the process to be completed. In concept, this is a mechanical digester where both bone shadows and the liquefied tissue are the final residues. The soft bone is dried before it is pulverized. The gallons of liquefied tissue and chemicals may be required to be pre-treated with additional chemicals to balance the PH before it can be transferred into the sewer system.
