What is resin separation (physical separation)?
In paste adhesives, where all components (resin-hardener system and filler) are homogeneously mixed, the resin component can physically separate from the rest of the adhesive system to become non-homogeneous. This results in variable dispensing and cured properties. Resin separation can be seen in a syringe as well as after dispense or after die attach. Improper storage or handling and exceeding storage life and/or work life can cause resin separation.
