What is required to keep the sabbath day holy?
Do you fail to understand the meaning of the Sabbath? God rested from His works to teach us to rest from our own works. The Sabbath day was instituted under the Ten Commandments given to Israel as a physical imposition to mark them out as a holy nation and point to the spiritual truth. Christ is our rest and we are to learn to live as He did, in complete dependence upon the Father for everything. Thus we are to cease from our own works and all is to be by the Spirit of God. Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. As Hebrews 4 shows, For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
