What is required to install the gyro?
Installation of the gyro requires roughly the same level of complexity and effort as installing a generator. A key component of the installation is the design and construction of the mounting stringers which must be capable of safely transferring the gyros torques to the hull structure. Other major installation considerations are the mounting and electrical wiring of the drive box and control box. Wiring also must be installed between the control box and the key/display control unit mounted on the bridge. Finally, a source of seawater must be plumbed to the heat exchanger.
