What is required to extend the interval for an internal inspection of a power boiler?
Power boilers are required to be inspected annually, except that power boilers with a rated steaming capacity of 300,000 pounds per hour or more are permitted to receive a certificate (internal) inspection not to exceed twenty-four (24) months, subject to the following conditions: • A written request for an extension beyond the annual certificate (internal) inspection shall be submitted by the owner or user to the rules board (BPV division). • An inspection report from the responsible inspector must be submitted with the request from the owner or user. • A document, such as a letter from the inspection agency, signed by a responsible person of that agency attesting to: The inspection report submitted by the inspector may be utilized for the documentation above required. Inspectors must be specific to address each of the items when using the inspection report to document the required information.
