What Is Required to Become a House Inspector?
House inspectors are considered to be part of the construction industry. Their job is to inspect new build homes or existing build homes as part of the home buying process. Homes include single family homes, condos, apartments and manufactured homes. When people are considering buying a home, they generally hire a home inspector to report on the structural integrity and any construction defects of the home. The home purchase is usually contingent on the inspector’s report. Inspectors examine every part of the house, including the roof and any exterior structures. While they look for and report on building code violations to the people who hire them, home inspectors have no legal power and can’t enforce compliance of building codes. In addition to being hired by prospective buyers, home inspectors may also be hired by homeowners who want to be alerted to any perspective problems in their homes.
