A single reader that is located less than 150 feet from the PC may be connected via RS-232 protocol. This requires that the PC have one available DB9 serial communications port (COM port) available. The reader will be connected to the PC using category-5 rated cable. This cable should be dedicated to this connection and not used for any other purpose. Three conductors will be used: RS-232 Tx, RS-232 Rx and RS-232 GND. For information on forming these connections, please refer to the Veri-Series Setup Guide or VeriSeries Installation Guide v9.31 (Blue LED) .
