What is regionalization and how does it effect the decision to form a new club?
Soccer Nova Scotia has a mandate to help foster the development of the game in the province. They are always looking for ways to enhance the competitive level of play. SNS is considering a plan to regionalize top-level competitive soccer in the province. This proposal would transform the current Tier 1 provincial model based around clubs into a regional team built around the 7 soccer regions in the province. If this change were to take place clubs would no longer directly control the development of their top competitive players. In regions such as Halifax and Suburban where HCU and Bedford respectively reside, there are 3-4 clubs that would have to decide how to form regional teams. It’s likely that these clubs would need to form a regional body to administer their competitive teams run by a committee formed from each club.
