Region 1 DVD’s are designed for use in the USA & Canada. What is Region 2? Region 2 DVD’s are designed for use in the UK, any DVD Player purchased from a UK electrical store will be compatible with Region 2 DVD’s. What is NTSC and PAL? NTSC is the television system used in the USA, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, South Korea & Taiwan, whilst PAL is the television system the UK & most of Europe uses. DVD’s that feature NTSC are most likely Region 1 DVD’s, whilst DVD’s that state PAL will be Region 2 compatible DVD’s. Can I watch Region 1 DVD’s in the UK? To watch DVDs that are Region 1 in the UK you will need a multi-region DVD Player, to check if you’re DVD Player is multi-region look out for a small globe icon with a number 1 on the front of the unit itself, this means that the player will be compatible with Region 1 DVD’s.
