What is red green colour blindness ?
It is a genetic condition where a person is unable to distinguish between red and green. There are varying degrees of this, and doesn’t mean the person can’t see, or can’t see any colors. My brothers are red-green colorblind, and describe colors I see as red or green as gray. If they know the context, they can sometimes tell that there is a bit of a difference there. One of my brothers is bad enough that he can’t see hunter orange. Not good during a deer hunt. The gene that causes red-greed color blindness is recessive, and is located on the X chromosome. For a female to be color-blind, she needs to have two recessive genes for color blindness. Since the X chromosome is paired with the Y in a male, he will be color blind if the X has the recessive gene. This is why color blindness is more common in males. -And it’s their mom’s fault 🙂 To test if you are color blind: http://www.archimedes-lab.
