What is READI Secondary/SmarterMeasure and how should it be used?
READI Secondary/SmarterMeasure is a web-based assessment. This assessment can provide information on the level of knowledge, attributes, and skills that a student possesses that have been shown to support student success in online courses. Some of the areas measured include persistence, availability of time, onscreen reading rate and recall, procrastination, and typing speed and accuracy. While not intended to be used to deny a student access to an online course, the results from this assessment can be used to look at a student’s strengths and weaknesses in the process of deciding whether the student is prepared to succeed in the online learning environment. If not, the student’s local school can take the steps necessary to help the individual student as needed to become prepared to be successful in the online learning environment in the future.
