What is re-dial ?
A. When an old dial’s coating on the hour markers cracks, you clean it and re-coat, this work is called re-dial. If your dial is broken, re-dial can repair it. The watch experts are often able to find the traces of renovation, because the written words when renovating have a little different from those words that were just coming from Rolex factory. If your dial is aged and looks very old, i suggest you not renovate it, because renovation will reduce vintage Rolex’s value, collectors would prefer the original and the old watches rather than the new or renovated watches. Certainly, if you don’t plan to resell your watch and like a new dial, you can choose re-dial. The general suggestion: don’t be mean, cheap and poor re-dial will be terrible. You can also ask Rolex to replace your old dial or supply a new dial. This will certainly make your watch look as the same as the new one.
