what is ragweed, exactly?
Ragweed is a pollen-producing plant that lives only one season and is the main cause of fall allergy symptoms in the U.S. It is a prolific plant that thrives in sunny, newly disturbed soils free from other vegetation, such as vacant lots, riverbanks and along roadsides. The seed-producing, yellow flowers on the ragweed plant mature as the nights grow longer and release pollen. Depending on the weather, the pollen count found in urban areas usually peaks mid-morning to mid-afternoon.
