As stated earlier “radiometric” is temperature measurement, usually in C or F, using infrared energy which was radiated from a surface and then collected on a sensor. In order to calculate surface temperature based on the collected infrared energy you need to have a consistently stabilized temperature reference in the detector array and you must know the emissivity of the object being measured. The CSI imaging infrared camera is not radiometric. The image produced is maximized for viewing contrast showing a clear representation of equipment and components with hotter areas clearly brighter (in “white hot” mode) and cooler areas clearly darker. However, the camera does not employ a consistently stabilized temperature reference in the detector. Instead, the image adjusts to provide the best contrast for all of the objects in the field of view.
