A Quorn is a brand of meat alternative that is based on mycoprotein. Mycoprotein is a member of the fungi family (as are mushrooms) and contains high quality protein. Mycoprotein is also naturally low in fat, contains very few calories, contains dietary fibre, is cholesterol-free, and is completely meat free. The organism does occur naturally, but it is grown under controlled conditions to provide the large variety of Quorn sausages, burgers, deli slices etc. that are available.
