Questing is looking for a new host. Many North American ticks have 3 hosts. They suck blood from each host, fall off and mature from larva to nymph and from nymph to adult . A common host cycle is mouse, rabbit, and deer; or mouse, dog, and dog, or mouse, dog, and human.
