What is Putnam Independent Living Services?
Putnam Independent Living Services (PILS) is a satellite office of the Westchester Independent Living Center, Inc. (WILC), which is located in White Plains, New York. Putnam Independent Living Services (PILS) incorporates in its daily activities the Independent Living philosophy of choice, societal inclusion, and empowerment. The Programs and Services at PILS reflect the requirements of PILS’ consumers and the demands of our evolving society. The scope of the services is directed by individual and community needs. As people and needs change, so do PILS’ Programs and Services in order to fulfill it’s mission of supporting self-sufficiency and self-determination. WILC’s/PILS’ Programs and Services are designed by, directed by and, in most cases, delivered by qualified individuals with a wide range of disabilities. PILS staff members provide information, counseling, guidance, and understanding when working with PILS consumers, but it is the consumers themselves who make their own choices
