Pulsed Light has been used commercially for a variety of cosmetic procedures for the last 2 or 3 years. It is light energy, just like a laser, but it is not a concentrated beam and it uses a wider range of the light wavelength spectrum. Lasers, used in other industries, were adapted for cosmetic procedures about 10 years ago. However, they are much more powerful than most of these procedures require and they consist of a single wavelength which limits their ability to achieve the desired results across many skin types. More recently, manufacturers realized that a wider range of light frequency dispersed over a wider area of the skin was more effective and did not generate the painful experience suffered with the use of lasers. A Pulsed Light machine generates a flash of light similar to a camera flashbulb. The light applicator is placed on the skin and the light is flashed. The light frequency and energy level are set so that the light photons penetrate the surface of the skin and reac
