What is Public School Education?
Separate schools, charter schools, private schools, and home schooling are substantially alike: they are exclusive by design. The main difference between them is that separate schools have access to their own tax base as a constitutional right (private schools do not), and all members of the religious minority which establishes the separate school are responsible for its governance. Consequently, the election of separate school trustees is governed, within the community of the religious minority, by the same provincial legislation which the rest of the community governs the election of public school trustees – the Local Authorities Election Act. (The governance of the private or charter school is restricted and the election of directors is not subject to the L. A. E. A.).
