What is project management and what are the obligations of a project manager?
Project management is the management of a construction scheme from inception to completion. In the property industry it covers design, procument, legal requirements, contract administration and sub-contractor/supplier management. The role of a project manager is to work for a client to ensure every element of a project comes together satisfactorily.Project managers are generally employed by the client/end user. It is a project manager’s task to ensure that a client receives the goods they were promised. On larger projects often called a contract administrator in line with official titles, the job can be carried out by an architect, quantity surveyor or dedicated project manager. Each of these types has it’s benefits, although there are pitfalls. Architects often are so devoted to their vision they can cause problems throughout a project. A quantity surveyor is very good at keeping the financial side in check but often lacks the practical knowledge required to cover a whole project.Whil
