When JVC brought the proposition of Affordable HD to the 2003 convention of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), the vision of remarkably high performance creative tools in the high definition domain began taking form. Coined ProHD, the vision establishes optimal balance among innovation, technology and cost performance across a suite of professional high definition products. Today, ProHD includes HD MPEG encoders and decoders, a DTV multi-format converter, two HD camcorders, an HD hard disc recorder, an HD field recorder / spooler, an HD studio deck, DTV monitors, HD flat panel displays, HD front projection systems and – the newest member of the family – low-cost HD optical media playback. Other remarkable HD innovations will soon join the ProHD family.
