What is proctoring?
Proctors assist instructors in-class when they give tests. Introductory classes usually have about 200 students sitting very close together, which makes it difficult to manage alone. For those classes, the typical instructor requests two proctors (at least one proctor for every 100 students). As a proctor, you will be expected to meet the instructor before the test, help distribute the exams, and then patrol the classroom watching for suspicious activity. If students raise their hands with questions, assist them in getting the instructor’s attention. Depending on the instructor’s policies, you may also receive the exams from students, which can involve checking their IDs and double-checking that they filled out their scantron correctly. To deter cheating, instructors often print several versions of the test on differently-colored paper. When you pass these out, you should make sure that no student is sitting to the side, front, or back of another student with the same-colored test. Nea
