What Is Probity Checking?
Probity Checking entails an investigation into an applicant’s background. Typically the investigation will cover the candidate’s work history, academic and professional qualifications, reference checking, criminal history, eligibility to work in Australia, credit history and personal details such as current address. Probity Checking may also include a search of the ASIC Register of Banned and Disqualified Persons and bankruptcy checks. Pre-employment screening is the most common form of Probity Check, however, many companies are now opting to check current employees, perform regular reviews and undertake other screening, such as detection of substance abuse.
