what is Prana Pratishta related to Hindu temple rituals?
A Pran Pratistha is a ceremony that is held when you install an Idol in the temple or your place of worship.This function invokes Spiritual Power in the Deity. Prior to that there are so many rituals that are required to be performed. The Idol is given a bath thru a number of rituals. The idol is given a Milk, an Anna (Grains), a water bath, The bath consist of more ways. If all are performed it is all the better. Thereafter a simple Yajna is held. Many a Deities are worshipped. The Concerned Deity is prayed and worshipped thru various means. An Ahwahan is recited. That is a Call Ceremony. With adequate respect and grace the idol is installed at the given pedestal. It is given a rest for a while.A screen is drawn around After a certain while the Deity is awakened. Before worshipping Him a number of Prayers are rendered for HIM to come alive. That way Pran (Breath) is installed in the idol. When you have instilled Pran in the Idol, it is expected that you pay daily prayers to the deity
