What is Powerful Teaching & Learning (PTL)?
PTL is a reflective process with specific and targeted teaching practices, and learning methods focused on student learning and achievement. Powerful Teaching & Learning, based on the foundation of rigor, reflection, relevance and relationships, utilizes the STAR (Skills, Thinking, Application and Relationships) protocol as a tool that focuses on instruction. Why is OHSD implementing PTL? OHSD is utilizing the PTL continuous improvement approach to create an environment of collaboration and professional learning which focuses on improving instructional practices through reflective practice, personal growth and shared understanding. How does PTL connect to the work that I am already doing? PTL provides a framework and common language about instruction for OHSD. Whether talking about motivating students, improving math achievement or strengthening community partnerships, PTL provides a lens to focus and connect to all aspects of our work.
