Potassium Citrate/citric Acid makes the urine less acidic. It is used in the treatment of certain kidney disorders and gout. How To Use Potassium Citrate/citric Acid Potassium Citrate/citric Acid must be diluted in water before drinking to prevent stomach upset. Take the prescribed dose and dilute it in at least 1/2 glass of water. Stir to mix and drink, following with additional water. This is usually taken after meals and at bedtime. Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking Potassium Citrate/citric Acid. Take Potassium Citrate/citric Acid as prescribed. Do not increase your dose or take this more often without your doctor s approval. Potassium Citrate/citric Acid Side Effects Notify your doctor if you develop: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fluid retention, convulsions, unusual weakness, mental confusion, tingling or numbness of the hands or feet.
