What is Portable Equipment Testing?

0

Portable Appliance Testing (P.A.T) is the inspection and testing of In-Service Electrical equipment. It was introduced to enable companies and organisations to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. In-service generally incorporates equipment that has a lead (cable) and plug and which is regularly moved around or can be easily moved from place to place, for example electric kettles, fans, heaters, televisions, vacuum cleaners, drills, extension leads, desktop lamps. Also equipment that could be moved such as laptop and desktop computers, fax machines, photocopiers, refrigerators and washing machines. Also fixed equipment / appliances such as bathroom heaters, towel rails, air conditioning units and cookers are also included.
