What is policy development and advocacy?
Policies encompass laws, regulatory measures, and funding priorities about a given topic. Policies are created and administered by a governmental entity or its representative(s). Early childhood advocates work with policy makers to create laws and fund programs (existing and new). These advocates educate and organize constituents (often parents and guardians of children served by early childhood programs) to ultimately pass or change laws, secure funds, and meet the needs of young children.
