What is Point of Sale (POS) system integration?
OpenTable POS integration is designed to improve the operational flow of the restaurant by updating table statuses on the OpenTable system whenever certain events occur on your POS system. Up-to date party status information will help the host staff anticipate and identify available tables and quote accurate wait times to waiting guests. How does POS Integration work? After activating and configuring the POS integration, certain POS events will generate table status updates on the OpenTable system. Opening a check on the POS system for a table establishes a linkage with the corresponding table in the OpenTable system (a party must be seated at the table). Once this linkage is established, POS events for that table will trigger status changes for the corresponding table in the OpenTable system Ordering an entrée on the POS system changes the OpenTable status to “Entrée” Ordering a dessert on the POS system changes the OpenTable status to “Dessert” Printing a check on the POS system chan
