What is “Pirates of Penzance” about?
You can find snippets of Pirates on youtube. I think one of the movies is available (adapted from the musical) on www.hulu.com. Synopsis: A young man has reached his 21st birthday, completing his apprenticeship as a pirate. He thanks them all kindly, but asks to leave the profession – he is a lawful type. He is put ashore, where he meets a bevy of girls, all daughters of a retired Admiral. He falls in love, meets the Admiral, and plans with him to capture the pirates, who in turn have decided to kidnap the girls. There is an epic conflict, and all is resolved, because everyone loves the queen (Victoria).
