What is phyto sampling?
The ministry samples soils and vegetation to determine if plants are absorbing potentially harmful levels of chemicals that could impact their growth, and pose a threat to a threat to animals that consume the plants. The word “phyto” in general means “plants” and the word “toxicology” relates to those potential impacts from chemicals taken into the plant from sources such as soils or from air borne materials that may land on the plant surfaces.
