What is Physiotherapy and Rehab?
As part of your evaluation, your doctor will be looking for what caused your condition in the first place. He will check for range of motion problems, flexibility issues, muscle imbalances and neurologic deficits. Physiotherapy is the use of certain treatments for management of pain, inflammation and swelling. These “rescue” therapies include electrotherapies, ultrasound, heat or ice therapies and joint traction. Their goal is to get you comfortable quickly so your recovery can begin. Rehabilitation is a group of therapies designed to rebuild the parts of you that have been damaged or neglected. Rehab is described as ‘active care’, and will involve specific exercises and movements for improving your balance, coordination and range of motion in your everyday life or sport. Core training, or the development of the deep abdominal muscles, is often part of this treatment. The core muscle group enables your body to move more efficiently, which speeds healing, increases endurance and boosts
