I keep forgetting to address the resolution problem. The answer to this and other questions is essentially: I don’t know; keep trying until one resolution (maybe) works better than the others. Remember that the manual, such as it is, says that too much resolution (read: information) is as bad as too little. I’ve gotten much better results — sometimes — by telling PhotoScore 200 dpi rather than 300. YMMV, but don’t be hesitant to feed it larger and/or smaller numbers. (I normally only try one or two pages at a time, rather than a PDF of an entire scores, when I’m experimenting like this.) I just noticed that you’re talking about reading TIFFs (see my #2 immediately below). But I suppose my advice would apply there too. I only scan as, and read into PhotoScore, PDFs.
