What is phenolic and what are the characteristics?
Phenolic is a thermoset material that when subjected to molding pressure and temperatures of 300° or higher, a chemical process occurs allowing the material to soften into a defined shape. Once molded, the part will retain it’s shape, strength, and surface hardness under extreme conditions. Therefore, phenolic has excellent resistance to chemicals, electrical currents, heat, flame, steam, UV radiation, and moisture.
