What is Phase 1 of BRT?
BRT Phase 1 will provide a dedicated busway, for use by high quality buses between Redlands Lane in the north and Military Road in the south. Currently funding secured from the Community Infrastructure Fund is sufficient to build the section between Redlands Lane and Tichborne Way only. The implementation of the remaining section, from Tichborne Way to Military Road, will depend upon available funding. The busway will be connected to the existing highway at Redlands Lane, Palmerston Drive, Wych Lane, Tichborne Way and Military Road. The route takes into account existing bus routes and residential areas and the potential to link in new services. Links with the existing highway network will be signal controlled. Stops with high quality waiting facilities will be provided at approximately 10 locations each way along the route. Buses using the busway will be able to serve other parts of Gosport and Fareham without passengers needing to change vehicles.
