What is Penrith LEP 1991 (Environmental Heritage Conservation)?
Penrith LEP 1991 (Environmental Heritage Conservation) is Council’s current heritage plan. It lists all the heritage items and heritage conservation areas across the city, and provides controls that help protect them from inappropriate development. Why is Penrith LEP 1991 being amended? Penrith LEP 1991 previously applied to the whole City. It needs to be amended to:- • Remove the items which are now covered in Penrith LEP 2008 • Add in items that have been recommended for preservation by the Heritage Study • Make the provisions that protect heritage within the plan the same as those contained in Penrith LEP 2008 What does a heritage listing mean for my property? A heritage listing means that your property has been recognised as having a heritage value that is important enough to the history of the City that it should be protected.
