What is Pearl Jam s connection with Pete Townshend and The Who?

0

Pete is a good friend of Ed s and they have played together on a few occasions. Pete is a member of The Who, a band Ed greatly admires. Pearl Jam has covered a wide variety of Townshend s songs. Ed first joined Pete onstage at the Maryville Academy benefit show at the House of Blues in Chicago 6/14/97. In 1999, Townshend released a live CD from that performance, including two of his duets with Ed, and Ed joined him a few promotional dates including a performance on The Late Show. Ed then opened for a newly reunited Who at the 1999 Maryville benefit with his friends “C Average” (a band he did a “Who tribute show” with earlier that year). Pete is a father figure of sorts to Ed, and we can only imagine what an incredible experience it must be to play music with your childhood hero.
