What is PDE required to do under the new proposal?
PDE is required to provide support to districts in developing educational programs to help students become proficient in the state academic standards. This support includes: • Creation of a voluntary model curriculum • Assistance in the development of effective student tutoring, remediation and extended instructional time programs • Opportunities for teacher training designed to improve instruction in the state standards • Upon request, technical guidance in developing local assessments for graduation purposes.
