What is PD (Pupillary Distance)?
The PD or Pupillary Distance is the distance between your pupils. This measurement is necessary for the accuracy of your prescription lenses to the glasses frame. It is usually between 50 and 75mm. The number is often made up two parts eg. 62/59. This corresponds to a PD of 62mm for distance and 59mm for near. If you are only getting glasses for distance only put the first number in the PD box. Though if you are unsure please enter the entire sequence. Please ask your eyecare professional to include this information on your prescription. An average PD for males is 65/62 and for females is 62/59. • What are bifocal lenses? Bifocal lenses are designed to be used for both distance and near tasks (ie. reading and driving).
