What is PC (Personal Computer)?

0

Personal Computer was a term that was defined in the 70’s and 80’s when hobbyists were creating computers that could be used in the home. Previously, computers were considered to be big monolithic machines that big businesses owned and rented usage time to others (Mainframes). These computers required a geeky computer operator to “Make the magic happen”. These machines were shared by many people or businesses. Hobbyists were creating smaller machines that could do most operations a mainframe could do, with much less processing power and only for an individual. Most of the industry at this time considered these hobbyists to be a big joke. IBM (the main distributor of mainframe computers) did not find them threatening in the least, and made no attempt to quell their efforts. Today, a PC is any computer that is designed for personal use, whether it is a laptop or a desktop. That is a real condensed version, and I hope it answered your question.
