Patina is the result of an oxidation reaction occurring between the metal and the oxygen in the air. This reaction results in a protective and distinctive finish on the surface of the metal wall tile. Patina is a sought after effect, and is usually offered at a premium. Various types of metal tiles produce different colors of patina. For example, bronze produces a luminous brown color that gradually displays a warmer shade over time. If moisture is in the air, patina can change further. Bronze tiles develop a green tint in presence of humidity.
