What is Passivation (Zinc Plating)?

0

Passivation is added to the Zinc electroplate to delay the onset of white corrosion products. Zinc in it’s nature is a sacrificial coating and will sacrifice itself to protect the substrate metal. The different types of passivation (clear, yellow olive or black) each have different corrosion values. The customer must specify which passivation treatment is required for any particular application. The differing corrosion values can be seen on the technical data page on this website. Please note, the difference between white and red corrosion values will be propoprtional to thickness of the Zinc electroplate).
