What is participatory outcome evaluation and why is it important?
Participatory outcome evaluation is an evaluation method that has been used extensively in international community development and is becoming more common in community development in the U.S. It relies heavily on program/organization stakeholders and participants to guide the evaluation process, particularly in determining the outcomes that are important to measure and in analyzing the evaluation data. As a result, participatory evaluations have been shown to be more relevant and useful in strengthening programs/organizations and the results are more often translated into follow-up action.
