What is Parlodel (Bromocriptine) used for?
• Treating Parkinson disease, certain conditions caused by too much prolactin in the blood (eg, excessive or abnormal breast milk production), certain menstrual problems, or abnormally large growth of certain body parts (acromegaly). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. • Parlodel (Bromocriptine) is a dopamine agonist. It works by blocking the release of prolactin from the pituitary gland and lowering growth hormone levels (in patients with acromegaly). In Parkinson disease, Parlodel (Bromocriptine) works by stimulating dopamine receptors in certain parts of the brain.
